350 ways today
It's going well.
Internet at the hotel has been tough - a couple of guys have a router and Gary has a alptop, but it's patchy to say the least. Finding time to eat in between "official" obligations makes things tricky too.
We started with some hundred ways. Although I'm in Sector 4, I've been seconded to the Base (75 way), and we've yet to complete it. Moved to 220 ways yesterday, and 350 ways today.
Some of my preparation has been flawed. Although I did the right thing in having a slow suit suit made, it really doesn't fit properly, and I'm a little pissed that the opportunities I had to fly it were compromised. Whatever. It's retired, and I'm in one of Terry Murphy's suits.
My five way line is in danger of being capped for multiple !@#kups and I may well wind up writing a lot more of this from the bench, which would be disappointing. There's a plan here, a good one, and some people need to listen a little harder. Example: We're supposed to track on the appearance of the fourth pilot chute from the centre, and track as a group, tight formation for about a thousand feet. So far, it's been the Tracking Team leader, myself, and every man for himself. This causes contentious openings, and I've put two at my lowest personal opening height already.
I got publicly drilled by Craig Giraud (who is a famous four way competitor) this morning for colliding with another team member. This collision did in fact occur in my slot. The /actual/culprit - also in a blue suit with a blue helmet and a yellow and blue rig - maintained his silence, so I copped a flogging for something I watched from good position.
That said, I'm enjoying the jumps, and the food. Going to try and plug my camera in now. Roommate Michael Vaughan has doen only three jumps since we got here - due to various things outside his control - and has gone nuts with my camera...
